1.    Do I need an appointment to view a vehicle?

Yes.  You need to call 805-684-9594 or e-mail us to make an appointment to view and test drive the vehicle.    Your time is important and we want to make sure that we reserve enough time for you to view, test drive and ask as many questions as you want about the vehicle.  Of equal importance, we need to make sure that the vehicle you are calling about is still available and, if available,  we need to transfer the vehicle from secured storage in order to show it to you.

2.    What forms of payment do you accept?

Cash, Cashier's Checks/Money Orders and Wire Transfers are accepted as payment for vehicles.  For municipalities, universities and colleges within the state of California, we accept purchase orders.

3.    Do you have in-house financing?

No, we do not provide in-house financing.  However, we work with several banks and loan companies that we can refer you to if you wish to finance.  Your bank may also provide you with attractive financing.  We are happy to work directly with your bank in order to facilitate the loan process.
For online financing options go to Financing Page

4.    What kind of warranty is provided on the vehicles?

On some newer vehicles, there may be the balance of the manufacturer's warranty available. We can confirm any manufacturer's warranty that is available.
All our other vehicles, we do not provide a warranty.  These vehicles do go through our extensive 60+ point inspection and meet industry accepted safety standards.    Additionally, when available, we can provide an Autocheck Report (a vehicle history report provided by Experian) on a vehicle.
We highly encourage our buyer's to have a buyer's inspection performed on the vehicle by their trusted mechanic whether or not the vehicle is still under manufacturer's warranty.  This provides an added level of comfort prior to purchasing the vehicle.

5.    Can I take the vehicle to my mechanic for a buyer's inspection?

Yes.  Once you make an appointment with your mechanic, we will be happy to deliver the vehicle to your       mechanic for a buyer's inspection.

6.    Do you provide Carfax reports on the vehicles you sell?

Yes, provided that the report is available for the vehicle.  Generally, Carfax will have a report available for cars, small-medium pickup trucks,  SUV, vans, etc...  However, on higher GVWR vehicles, a report from Carfax may not be available.

7.    What is the Car Buyer's Bill of Rights?

For used vehicles , the DMV has instituted regulations which require Dealers to itemize pricing of such items as service contract, insurance financing, theft deterrent device, Contract Cancellation Agreement etc.. on the contract.   Read more about the Car Buyer's Bill of Rights at  California DMV's Website.

8.    What is the Contract Cancellation Option?

The Car Buyer's Bill of Rights  allows a two day contract cancellation option.  At the time of purchase of the used vehicle (valued at less than $40,000.00 ), you may purchase a contract cancellation option.
Note that this does not apply to used cars priced at $40,000 or more, new cars, private party sales, motorcycles, off-road vehicles, recreational vehicles, or vehicles sold for business or commercial use.

9.    Do I need to go the DMV at any time to register the vehicle?

After your purchase of a vehicle from McDonald Enterprises, you do not need to go the DMV unless you are making changes to the vehicle body (i.e. removing current bed and adding on a new bed which would change the classification of the vehicle), change details on the title (i.e. adding a lienholder or additional owner name), etc...
At the time of sale, McDonald Enterprises completes and collects all the paperwork needed to register the vehicle for you. Within 20-30 days of the sale of the vehicle, we submit the necessary paperwork and registration  fees to the DMV in order to complete the transfer of the vehicle in your name.

10.    What registration fees are collected?

We collect transfer fees, plate fees (if needed) and, depending on the vehicle's current registration status, registration fees.   Any overcharges for registration on our part will be refunded to buyer.

11.    Do I get charged California Sales Tax if I am registering the vehicle outside of California?

If you are an out of state buyer you can avoid that charge if you have a common carrier (i.e. car hauler) transport the vehicle out of the state of California.  You'll need to be provide us  with a copy of the Bill of Lading provided by your common carrier.
If the vehicle purchased is driven on California roads, we are required by law to charge California Sales Tax, registration fees, smog, etc...
